Staff Senate Semester Updates Fall 2020

Missouri State University Staff Senate Semester Updates October 2020  Page one.  Article one, Public Affairs Conference. This year's Public Affairs Conference went virtual to present "The Power of Voice." Plenary Speakers included Marcus Engel, Sue Klebold, Lyrissa Lidsky, and Ebony Stewart. Thank you, President Smart, for always supporting staff to attend University events, up to two work hours, with the supervisor's approval.  Article two, Homecoming 2020. This year's homecoming incorporated virtual events to celebrate all things Missouri State University! Some key events included a Scavenger Hunt, Commencement for May 2020 grads, Football Bears Vs. Central Arkansas bears, and more!  Article three, Friends of Staff Senate. Join the Friends of Staff Senate email list to be the first to know about all things Staff Senate! Missouristate.edu/FoSS  Article four, Welcome New Bears! New Bears will be joining the Sloth soon!  Article five, In Memoriam. The Staff at Missouri State University are the foundation of creating educated persons and ensuring that each student's journey is positive and supportive. We spend many hours and days together, becoming like family to one another. Staff Senate would like everyone to take a moment to remember Jason Rhea, who spent 21 years with Missouri State. If you would like to send your condolences to Jason's family, you can drop cards off at the Central Stores and Maintenance building (945 East Grand Street).

Do you know a full-time Staff member who goes beyond the call of duty and contributes to the success of MSU? Article Three, Open Enrollment! 5 minutes will save $360. With the time it takes to read the Staff Senate newsletter, you could have saved $360 with MSU's Wellness Incentive plan. By participating in this wellness activity and receiving either your annual flu vaccine or biometric screening, you will save $30 per month on your health insurance premium for 2021. For your convenience, appointments can be made through Magers Health and Wellness between now and December 1 at five different locations across MSU campuses. In an effort to improve social distancing while voting in this year's Presidential election, Missouri State University, in cooperation with the County Clerk's Office, has relocated the campus' central polling location from the Welcome Center to JQH Arena. This move will allow voters to quickly cast their ballots while providing amplified safety measures and sufficient line spacing. Any voter registered in Greene County will be allowed to utilize the JQH central polling location. The polls will be open from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm on November 3.
