Public Affairs Conference 2020 The Power of VOICE

Poster of Public Affairs Conference. September 29 through October 1. Presented as a Live Virtual Event. Links listed at www.publicaffairs.missouristate.edu/schedule. Free and open to the public. No registration is required. This year’s theme is The Power of VOICE. Join us as we explore the many aspects of The Power of Voice, the 2020-2021 Public Affairs theme. There will be one In-Person opening panel session on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the PSU Theatre. The title of the event is Have a Strong Voice! And I will use it to…? There will be local and national speakers, 20-panel sessions, and new this year will be fifty-minute panel sessions with start times mirroring class times. Some of the Plenary Speakers include Marcus Engel, who is the Co-founder of I’m Here Movement. He will present The Other End of the Stethoscope on Wednesday, September 30, from 12:20 PM to 1:20 PM. Ebony Stewart, a Spoken Word Artist, Poet, Advocate, will present The Power of Voice Expressed by Ebony on Wednesday, September 30, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Lyrissa Lidsky, who is the Dean and Professor of MU School of Law. She will present Social Media Self-Sabotage on Thursday, October 1, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. Sue Klebold is an author and advocate for Mental Health. She will present Reaching for Hope on Thursday, October 1, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The conference schedule, session descriptions, speaker bios, and ZOOM Webinar links can be viewed at www.publicaffairs.missouristate.edu/schedule. For information, contact the Office of Public Affairs Support, 417-836-8832. Plenary speaker sessions will be recorded and available for viewing for a limited time. Panel sessions will not be recorded. MCHHS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Speaker Series

MCHHS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council Presents #_______ atMoState: Doing the Work to Ensure All Are Welcome Here. Monday, September 28 4 pm to 5:30 pm via ZOOM. Speaker is Sandra Miles, Ph.D., Flager College. Dr. Sandra Miles is the Vice President for Student Affairs and Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer at Flagler College. She has spent the last fifteen years serving as a leader and administrator in higher education. Specifically, she has had extensive experience in managing crisis, strategic planning, developing leadership programs, and working with persons with disabilities. Dr. Miles is the Chair of the NASPA Center for Women Board, a national speaker for Campus Outreach Services; the immediate Past National Director of the Black Female Development Circle, Inc.; and is an active alumnae member of Delta Sigma Theata Sorority, Inc. This talk is part of a two-part interactive discussion regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion in campus climate and advising. Faculty and Staff are encouraged to attend. Registration required.
