Growing up, I took piano lessons and singing lessons. So, as a result, I find myself to be very “in touch” with the music from around the world. I recently went to Silver Dollar City with my Grandparents. Right now, the last WorldsFest is occurring. While I was there, I had the opportunity to listen to some African music, as well as some steel drum performances. This immersion sparked my curiosity to what the cultural music is like in Bali. From my research and Youtube browsing, I have discovered that the native music of Bali is called Gamelan. IT is much rougher and harsher than some Javanese music. As for the singing, Bali is unique in that it has a style of music called kecak, which imitates the sounds of the monkeys. I cannot wait to be submerged into the actual culture of Bali to hear it’s distinct sounds. Even though Silver Dollar City tries to mimic music and cultures from around the world during WorldsFest, I am certain it will not compare to when I am actually experiencing it firsthand.

This would be a great moment for Dad/engineer joke about Boolean logic. Cause it sounds like Balian. Snark Snark. Yes I know its not funny. Which is precisely why I thought of it.
