Today was day 1 at the Plain of Jars, we have another site to see tomorrow. The Plain of Jars is multiple sites of rock type formations that look like large jars, they have been there for over 2,500 years! No one is sure of the exact reason for these jars of various sizes or how they got to where they are now, but they are thought to be burial sites. The first site was in a wooded area and we were able to see a hole in the ground made by a bomb from the war. There were a few lids for the jars still left but they were on the ground. These jars are also used as alters and some people leave food or gifts. The second site we had to hike through a rice field which was cool to see the fields and gardens up close. Some of the jars were broken and decayed but a lot of them were in great shape!
Dawn says
Sounds very interesting and beautiful. I can’t believe how clear the water is.
