When I think of cultural I think of countries and people doing the same thing they’ve done for years because that’s how it’s done and people don’t ask questions about it. That’s not always correct though, I learned there could be multiple reasons culture is changed: war or natural disasters, seeking new or different ways to solve problems, or adjusting to historical changes. After reading how culture can also problem solve I started to think of my job with Milwaukee Tool and how they have an amazing culture throughout the organization. I realized that a lot of what we are learning doesn’t just pertain to countries, but people and groups of all kinds. I certainly would not have thought that the example in our notes of the American lady eating breakfast is borrowing so many different cultures around the world as she eats. I have been to London and I know we speak English, but while I was there it was interesting to see how many different words have different meanings. I think one change that we will see after this pandemic is how much more people will wash their hands and clean stores more frequently.

Rachel,
I really like how you related changes in culture to the potential changes we may see following this pandemic. I believe that people will begin to their wash hands and clean stores more frequently after this as well. I also feel like the way that people shop and purchase items will forever change. I could see more people transitioning to doing all of their shopping online, in regards to groceries, clothing items, and restaurant take-out. I feel like this will occur out of people’s fear of visiting public places for awhile again, but also because I think people will realize how simple online purchases can be after months of “practice”. In terms of marketing, this shift will forever change how consumers make purchases and buying decisions which will change the way that companies market their products.
