Sociology website relates the major to community engagement

Sociology website

The sociology website was redesigned as part of the Academic Website Project, which strives to enhance academic websites for use in recruitment efforts.

Sociology websiteKey features of the newly designed website include the following:

  • Features community engagement
    A feature of this program is its emphasis on public sociology, so that content is woven throughout the website.
  • Offers three- and four-year graduation plans
    Students often want to learn the details about how long it will take them to graduate. This program offers two sample schedules.

Political science website features global careers

The political science website was redesigned as part of the Academic Website Project, which strives to enhance academic websites for use in recruitment efforts.

Political ScienceKey features of the newly designed website include the following:

  • Links to core and related programs
    The website offers prominent links to both the political science department programs and other related programs, such as the pre-law program and certificate in homeland security and defense. This ensures the students can easily access all programs that interface heavily with the political science department.
  • Offers supplements for PLS 101 general education course
    The department offers resources to students enrolled in PLS 101, including full course videos for the Missouri government and politics component.

    The program was often misunderstood, so the site includes a page that describes the major fields of study and characteristics of anthropology.

    Blog posts and Web pages showcase study away programs and field schools — opportunities that appeal to prospective students.

Philosophy website appeals to future freshmen and transfer students

The philosophy website was redesigned as part of the Academic Website Project, which strives to enhance academic websites for use in recruitment efforts.

Philosophy websiteKey features of the newly designed website include the following:

  • Describes philosophy in general
    To help students determine if the philosophy program is the right fit, the website offers a “What is Philosophy?” page.
  • Provides two-year transfer plan
    To assist students transferring from OTC, the department provides a transfer degree guide. This is key since so many new Missouri State students are now transfer students.

    The department goes beyond the standard template by providing checklists and worksheets for their majors.
  • Highlights special projects and resources
    The facilities and resources section of the website not only showcases the facility but also embeds media from ongoing projects.
