Meet Billy Dudley, a transfer student from Lebanon, MO!
Billy transferred to Missouri State University from Ozarks Technical Community College-Springfield campus. Billy is pursuing the Communication Sciences & Disorders/Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing program at Missouri State University.
When asked why Billy chose to transfer to Missouri State University, Billy says, “MSU has a fantastic 2+2 plan for my major, where MSU honored all the classes I had taken at OTC. This allowed me to step straight into my junior year at MSU, and straight into my major-specific classes.”
Billy says the most challenging part of his transfer experience was, “Learning MSU’s website and learning Blackboard. In reality, those are small challenges, which are good! It just takes time to get used to it.” Billy expressed love for his time at OTC but says that “I have enjoyed so much being able to get into my major specific classes at MSU” and says that is the most enjoyable part of his transfer experience.
Billy’s advice for a new transfer student is to get involved. He says, “I think getting involved is a great way to ease the newness of transferring to a new school. I was fortunate to be involved with an organization before transferring, and it helped to know that I already knew people.”
Billy would like to use this opportunity to give a shoutout to the people who helped him the most with his transition to MSU: his family and friends (who helped by being supportive), Donna Rebmann (who helped Billy out tremendously), and Steve Fritts (Billy’s first ASL instructor at OTC).
