MSU Provost Frank Einhellig (left) and OTC Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Tracy McGrady sign an agreement to allow OTC honors student to transfer to MSU honors program.

Ozarks Technical Community College Honors Program graduates who transfer to Missouri State University will automatically be eligible for admission into MSU’s honors programs thanks to an articulation agreement signed May 16 at the Meyer Alumni Center.

“The OTC Honors Program provides high-achieving students with a challenging curriculum in an atmosphere of scholarship,” said Todd Yerby, OTC Honors Program director. “Now, we are thrilled to enter a new partnership with Missouri State that will provide our students with a seamless transfer into the university’s prestigious honors programs.”

The agreement between OTC and Missouri State will facilitate the transfer of Honors Program students from OTC into either the general honors program or the accelerated honors program at Missouri State.

“We are pleased to deepen our working relationship with the OTC Honors Program through this new articulation agreement,” said John Chuchiak, director of the MSU Honors College. “We hope to attract increasing numbers of OTC’s most academically-motivated students into Missouri State University’s 190 undergraduate degree options.”

About OTC’s Honors Program

The OTC Honors Program enrolls approximately 50 students each academic year. The program is open to current college students or incoming freshmen. For admittance into the program, students must meet a set of academic standards, complete an essay and provide three academic references. To graduate with OTC Honors Program distinction, students must complete honors courses, volunteer at campus and community events, and maintain a high grade-point average.

About MSU’s Honors College

The Missouri State Honors College is a competitive admission program designed to provide students with the opportunity to take thought-provoking courses. The multidisciplinary program is designed to help students develop critical thinking and communication skills and to apply those skills in research-intensive courses guided by faculty experts. The MSU honors program also features an emphasis upon public affairs and the courses challenge students to think about community and global issues by exploring questions of cultural competence, community engagement and ethical leadership.

Learn about the Honors College

This articulation agreement is the fourth signed between the OTC Honors Program and a Missouri four-year university. OTC also has agreements with Drury University, the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Missouri Southern State University in Joplin that provide OTC Honors students with academic or financial incentives to transfer.
