Consider summer 2018 just a brief intermission.

Talented and passionate high school artists will flood the Missouri State University campus in summer 2019 when the Missouri Fine Arts Academy (MFAA) resumes.

Moving forward with the MFAA

The MFAA is restructuring and using 2018 as planning and development time while the College of Arts and Letters (COAL) seeks a director of MFAA.

“Our approach is driven by efficiency, affordability and inclusion,” said Dr. Shawn Wahl, interim dean of COAL. “The new vision of MFAA also includes expanded partnerships between the College of Arts and Letters and arts education programs like Any Given Child and the Kennedy Center.”

About MFAA

Applications will be accepted in fall 2018 for the MFAA class of 2019.

Once awarded a spot, students will participate in an intense schedule of courses to expand their abilities and interests in the areas of visual arts, theater, dance, creative writing or music. The curriculum is designed to challenge and motivate the students into arts related careers.

“Part of the planning process includes an affordable tuition model, the ability to earn dual credit as well as MFAA scholarships funded by community partners,” added Wahl.

History of MFAA

Since 1996, Missouri State has been the home of the three-week summer residential program.

The concept of MFAA grew out of an interest in empowering Missouri’s most talented arts students to become future state arts leaders.
