Office Support Assistant, Veterans Services

Deidre is the Office Support Assistant in the Oldham Family Veteran Student Center on campus. She graduated from Missouri State University with her Bachelors in Criminology and was a part of the Veterans Administration work study program in her time as a student. Deidre served in the Marine Corps prior to becoming a student.

In her current position, Deidre stays heavily involved with the Veterans Student Organization and organizes events such as the Veteran’s Ball. This is an event where the student veterans honor a specific group of US military veterans (i.e. Purple Heart veterans, WWII veterans) and donate a portion of the proceeds to a local non-profit organization that helps veterans.

In addition to the work she does with her student organization, Deidre also serves on the Homeless Veterans Task Force that is a project of the Community Project of the Ozarks. This group troubleshoots the most effective methods to better the lives of homeless veterans in Springfield.

Deidre has accepted a new position at the University of Missouri Kansas City as Executive Assistant to the Dean of Nursing. We are thrilled to spotlight her for her passion of helping other veterans and living out the public affairs mission. Congratulations, Deidre and good luck in Kansas City.
