Art and Design have always been a passion for St. Peters native, Samantha Stoltz. “I love trying new things, thinking outside the box, using different mediums, and even drawing inspiration from other artists,” she said.
A passion turned career
Her journey began four years ago in high school. She immersed herself in the graphic design community from that moment forward. What was then a hobby transformed into a career? She is working currently as a freelance designer and illustrator.
The Be A Bear contest was an assignment in her Missouri State graphic design class. She faced the project head-on with the goal of designing a t-shirt that all Bears would be proud to wear. She began by researching past winning shirts and then began to brainstorm. That is when Samantha developed a design she feels evokes community, unity and the values that lie within all Missouri State Bears.
As Samantha looks towards her future, she plans on moving to a large city to begin working for a design agency. She hopes to work for a large company to expand her experience and grow as a designer. Samantha plans to continue her freelance work to explore her creative freedom.
About the 2023 Be a Bear T-Shirt Contest
The 2023 Be a Bear T-shirt contest runs from February 8 – 14. Students, Alumni, and friends of MSU are encouraged to vote on their favorite design in hope of seeing it come to life in the bookstore.
The winning shirt will be released for sale in the MSU Bookstore on March 17. You can also find them on March 22nd at MSU’s birthday and at Homecoming this fall.
Proceeds benefit the Be A Bear Scholarship Fund, which offers scholarships to potential Bears planning to attend Missouri State.
