
Susan J. Crain, Professor of Finance, was elected Vice President/Events of the Southwestern Finance Association. Dr. Crain will be responsible for planning and coordinating the association’s annual meeting in Dallas March, 2014.

The MSU Beta Alpha Psi chapter earned “Superior Chapter” status. This award has been earned for almost 20 years in a row. Congratulations to the students and to the faculty advisors George Schmelzle, Professor in the School of Accountancy, and Carl Keller, Associate Professor in the School of Accountancy.

Sandra Byrd, Professor in the School of Accountancy, received a grant renewal for the Low Income Tax Clinic in the amount of $80,000. The clinic, located in Glass Hall, has helped those in low-income households with tax-preparation services for almost 12 years. The program also helps taxpayers understand their rights and responsibilities regarding taxes. Dr. Kerri Tassin serves as the Director of the LITC.

MSU AITP receives SCOPA (Student Chapter Outstanding Performance Award) – recognizing outstanding performance in the areas of education, membership, public relations, meetings and Association participation! This award indicates the chapter is providing a variety of opportunities to and for its members and its members are participating in a variety of activities. Congratulations to the students and to the faculty advisor Michelle Hulett, Senior Instructor Computer Information Systems.
