Enactus members work hard to receive grants and meet with Mondelez International

The Enactus Missouri State University team recently met with representatives of Mondelez International, parent company of Oreo, Ritz, Trident and many other popular brands. Representatives of Mondelez traveled from all over the United States as well as Canada and Argentina to spend time on the MSU Campus with our Enactus Team. During the meeting, the team shared its ideas on an upcoming project and gave a tour of the project site, Harmony House.Harmony House is a nonprofit organization based in Springfield that provides assistance for survivors of domestic abuse. The mission of Harmony House is to provide shelter, advocacy and education to survivors of domestic violence and to promote the principle that all individuals have the right to a life free of abuse. MSU Enactus team members plan to provide job-search assistance and educational support to residents of Harmony House during the 2013-14 academic year.
MSU Enactus project leader Debra Horn stated, “This event was powerful for the Mondelez representatives and our Enactus members. It was very moving to see the group discussion turn to passion for addressing problems in the community. We connected during our visit to Harmony House and talked about how to have a meaningful impact.”
To fund their efforts for this project and others, Enactus MSU applied for project partnership grants. The team received several, including the Wal-Mart Women’s Economic Empowerment Project, Sam’s Club Step Up for Small Business, and Campbell’s Let’s Can Hunger grants. The award amounts range from $300 to $1,500 for a grand total of $3,300 in aid for the team’s upcoming projects.
