Effective July 2019, the Department of Management and Information Technology (MIT) will divide into two departments – Information Technology and Cybersecurity (ITC) and Management (MGT). This structural realignment reflects the need to balance the number of faculty and majors across college departments and will positively impact our students, staff, and faculty, as well as firms recruiting business students.
Details:
Leadership:
Dr. Josh Davis, currently the department head of MIT, will remain as the department head for Information Technology and Cybersecurity. Dr. Jason DeBode, will serve as interim department head of Management effective July 1, 2019. A national search for a Management department head will be conducted during the fall 2019 semester.
Degree Programs:
There are no curricular changes associated with this change. All majors and courses are still available. There have been no changes to graduation requirements.
Classes:
Management related courses will retain their current MGT prefix. Information Technology and Cybersecurity related courses will initially retain their CIS prefix for summer 2019, but eventually change to align with the new department name.
Location of Department and Faculty Offices:
The Information Technology and Cybersecurity department office will be located in Glass Hall, suite 359. The Management department office will be located in Glass Hall, suite 414.
