Fashion students design canine couture to promote pet adoption.

October 6, 2021 by Web Strategy and Development

Looking to adopt a dog or support local rescues? The Project Puppy virtual benefit gala is the event for you.

Adoptable dogs will walk the runway in custom outfits designed by Missouri State University merchandising and fashion design students. Event attendees can vote on their favorite pooch and take part in a virtual auction.

The event will be livestreamed at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 on YouTube and Facebook.

The benefit gala will help local rescue dogs find forever homes and get students involved in the community.

Senior fashion student Carlea Badolian decided to participate this year. She wanted to take on a design challenge and to support her runway model, Izzy the Weimaraner.

“It’s been exciting to get to know my dog. Izzy is an absolute joy to work with,” Badolian said.

“She is very sweet and energetic and puts up with me putting all kinds of weird clothing on her.”
