Missouri State’s online Master of Accountancy program nationally ranked

The online Master of Accountancy ranked no. 22 nationwide in 2023.

Thinking of pursuing a Master of Accountancy (MAcc)? Missouri State University’s online MAcc ranked 22nd in the nation by OnlineMastersDegrees.com (OMD) for 2023.

“This year, we focused on the schools making it easier for students to compete in today’s increasingly difficult job market,” said OMD co-founder Kyle Darland.

In a recent news release, Darland noted the increased pressure on workers to seek postsecondary education.

“Each ranked school offers a fully or partially online master’s program in business at a time when earning a master’s has become a minimum barrier to entry for many.”

How the ranking is determined

OMD analyzed more than 7,700 accredited universities using data from the schools themselves and the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS).

To select its top programs, the group looked at key factors including:

  • Academic counseling services.
  • Career placement services.
  • Student/faculty ratio.
  • Tuition.
  • Percent of students receiving school-based aid.
  • Amount of school-based aid per student.

Universities must also hold active regional accreditation and have at least one partially online master’s program in the ranking subject to qualify for ranking. Just 6 percent of U.S. postsecondary institutions earned a ranking position.

Missouri State stood out because of its AACSB International accreditation, affordability and dedication to its students’ career success. The accounting programs offer online, hybrid and accelerated tracks to provide students with flexibility.

About the program

MSU’s School of Accountancy is accredited by AACSB International, the premiere accrediting body for business programs. The program also holds the AACSB supplemental accreditation in accounting.
