Women’s Equality Day
August 26
The U.S. Congress designated August 26 as “Women’s Equality Day” to commemorate the passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution in 1920. Gaining voting rights for women took over seventy years and a massive, yet peaceful, civil rights movement where men and women across the country combined forces to fight for equal voting rights for women. The observance not only commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment, but also calls attention to women’s continuing efforts toward full equality. Workplaces, libraries, organizations and public facilities participate with programs, displays, video shows, women’s history tours or other activities.

Help Conserve Energy During Aug/Sept
August & September
The campus annual electrical demand rates will likely be set for the entire year sometime soon. The combination of students back for the fall semester and the extreme high temperatures will cause the electrical consumption to peak and therefore determine what electrical capacity City Utilities must plan for our campus throughout the entire year. This establishes the minimum we must pay through the next 10 months for the demand portion of the electric bills, regardless of the actual electricity we consume. Please join the campus community to step up and make a difference during the months of August and September by following these energy conserving measures to help set a low demand rate!
Haven
Haven is a required online course for all in-coming freshmen and transfer students to complete to initiate understanding of consent, sexual assault, relationship violence, and bystander intervention. If this course is not completed by the student prior to the student’s spring registration date within the student’s first year at Missouri State University, a Registration Hold will be placed on the student’s account. This hold will be lifted from the account once completion of Haven has occurred.
To Log In:
- Always sign in at: my.missouristate.edu
- After signing in, go under the Academics tab and find the New Student or Transfer Student section. Within this square, there is a training section and the Haven link is in this area. To access Haven, choose the link and you can begin.
Course problems? Contact Emma Rapp, Dean of Students Graduate Assistant at Rapp703_@missouristate.edu or at (417) 836-6087
Those with disabilities who may not be able to access Haven because of the instructional format or design of the training program may request an accommodation by contacting the Disability Resource Center at drc@missouristate.edu or 417-836-4192

Discovery Garden
The mission of Discovery Garden Montessori School is to provide students in the Springfield area with the opportunity to acquire an education based on the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. This philosophy places an emphasis on independent learning, mixed-age classrooms, and mutual teaching. This school will actively recruit and serve all children in hopes to attract a culturally, ethnically and socio-economically diverse group of students. Our goal is to nurture, inspire and support each child’s individual development with an enriched and welcoming community. We continually strive to foster strong academics, leadership, self-discipline, responsibility, independence, and a child’s innate love of learning. These principals help make our children’s introduction to education a purposeful start to a journey of lifelong learning.
