This Weekend Off Campus

November 2, 2012 by

I hope everyone had a good Halloween. Welcome to November.

Now, it is the first friday of November, which means… FIRST FRIDAY ART WALK!!! For those of you who are still unaware of the joys FFAW can bring to Springfield dwellers, I’ll tell you a little bit about it. On the first friday of every month, artists, musicians, and the like head downtown to showcase their talents, free to anyone willing to come. This month’s art walk is Thanksgiving  themed. There are twenty-eight different venues and it starts at 6:00 PM. Make sure you stop by Art Inspired to listen to a performance by Springfield Metro Chorus.

Tonight and tomorrow night is also Skinny Improv Mainstage. For those of you with a love for hilarious improv, this is for you. More information HERE.

More more funny entertainment, check out Kings Street Players tomorrow night on Kings Street. MSU students are hosting Kings Street Players Halloween Spooktacular!!! Oooo spooky. This Halloween special will be featuring a dramatic reading from the Harry Potter fan-fiction “My Immortal,” episode 2 of the Kings Street original parody series “Pokemon Readers Theatre,” zombies, ghosts, and much, much more! Seating is limited so get there early. More information HERE.

Also, in celebration of Native American Heritage Month, Missouri State University and the American Indian Student Association (AISA) wil be hosting the Eighth Annual Native American Heritage Month Powwow tomorrow from noon to 11:300 PM and on Sunday from noon to 6:00 PM.  The Powwow will be featuring traditional singing, dancing and drumming. There will also be vendors providing Native American arts, crafts, books, clothing, jewelry and food. It is taking place in Hammons Student Center, and it’s free. Go out and enjoy it (:
