EPSNR supplemental exhibit at the Smithsonian Roots of Wisdom: Native Knowledge, Shared Science Exhibit

The State Fruit Experiment Station Exhibit featured information on native crops. It is dedicated to John Avery who worked at the station as the field supervisor and horticulturist who initiated many of the projects on native crops at the experiment station.

Our Plant Science and Natural Resources Department set up a display at the MSU Meyer Library as a supplement to the Smithsonian Exhibit Roots of Wisdom: Native Knowledge, Shared Science (March 18 – May 24). Apple Tree Grafting Workshop

Ningxia students and faculty attend American Small Farm Conference in West Plains

The Environmental Plant Science and Natural Resources Department participated in the American Small Farm Conference in West Plains by helping to organize the event and giving presentations. Fruit Tree and Grape Pruning Workshop

We had around 30 people join us for the pruning workshop.  The group discussed pruning tools and sanitation of the tools.  Proper pruning cuts and the timing of those cuts were also discussed. Then the groups pruned grapes, new and old apple and peach trees. 2018 Greenhouse and High Tunnel Workshop held October 17 – 18

The 2018 Greenhouse and High Tunnel Workshop was held on Wednesday and Thursday, October 17 - 18 at the State Fruit Experiment Station in Mountain Grove. Fifty-seven participants attended. Topics ranges from Ginger and Turmeric to Oyster mushroom production. Tomatoes, peppers and eggplant production was also featured.
