The HRA department reached a significant milestone—the completion of the program’s new facility! In July, the HRA faculty and staff said goodbye to the old facility in the Professional Building and hello to our new home in Pummill Hall, located in the heart of main campus. This fall we welcomed our first group of students into the building. The students’ response to the new space has been overwhelmingly positive. There is a visible sense of pride among the students as they are getting to experience a truly exceptional learning environment.
At the “Pummill Hall Launch Party,” held for champions of the HRA department, Missouri State University’s President Clif Smart challenged the department to become a signature program for the university and grow the number of students enrolled in the major. Challenge accepted! Currently, the HRA faculty, staff and board of advisors are working to shape what the signature program should look like. Together, we are developing strategies to elevate the status of the department regionally, nationally, and internationally.
It is a great time to be involved with the HRA department. We are continually looking for ways to move the program forward. Faculty constantly work to ensure the curriculum and teaching methods are relevant to student needs. Our board of advisors provide critical resources to the program. Support from our industry partners helps maintain the 96% placement of our graduates. And, our students exhibit an exceptional work ethic making Missouri State University a go-to university for hospitality recruiters.
Are you ready to become involved? We invite you to be a part of this new era and become a Hospitality Champion! Contact Dr. Stephanie Hein for more details.
