With summer in full swing and June 30 quickly approaching, now’s the time to revisit your vacation leave balance. Missouri State University’s vacation policy allows full-time employees to carry forward unused vacation leave—but only up to a certain amount. If your balance exceeds twice your annual allowance by the end of the fiscal year, you’ll lose any hours over the limit.
How to Check Your Balance

Donate to the Shared Leave Pool
If you won’t be using all of your vacation time, consider donating some of it to Missouri State’s Shared Leave Pool. Your donation can help a colleague facing a personal medical crisis or another qualifying event.
Special Opportunity — Now through June 30
The donation maximum has been temporarily increased from 48 to 64 hours through the end of the fiscal year, giving employees who previously donated the full 48 hours the opportunity to contribute an additional 16 hours.
🖥️ How to Donate:
👉 MyMissouriState Portal > Time & Leave Resources card > Shared Leave Pool (Requests & Donations)
💡 Policy Reminder: Extra donations are only allowed when HR communicates a need—like now.
📊 Help us hit 2,500 donated hours! You can give in 1-hour increments. (Note: You must donate at least 8 hours to be eligible to apply for shared leave.)
Whether you’re using your time to unwind or sharing it with others, make sure to act before June 30.
