Make Your Time Matter: Shared Leave Campaign Continues
As week three of the Shared Leave Donation Challenge comes to a close, we’re grateful for the amazing support so far—and we’re excited to keep the momentum going! There’s still time to take part and help us meet our goal, all while supporting fellow Missouri State employees in a meaningful way.
💛 What Is the Shared Leave Pool?
The Shared Leave Pool is a voluntary program that allows employees to donate accrued vacation leave to a central bank of hours. These hours are then available to qualifying employees who are experiencing a serious medical condition (their own or that of an immediate family member) or who are welcoming a child through adoption or placement.
Shared Leave can help prevent loss of income during extended absences from work. When employees have exhausted their own paid leave balances, this program offers them a safety net—provided by the generosity of colleagues like you.
🍼 As of 07/01/2024: Expanded Parental Leave
Effective July 1, 2024, eligible employees may receive up to 80 hours of Shared Leave for Parental Leave without needing to use their own vacation or sick time first.
⏳ Don’t Miss This Limited-Time Opportunity
Now through June 30, employees can donate up to 64 hours of vacation leave—a temporary increase from the usual 48-hour limit. If you’ve already contributed the maximum in the past, you now have the opportunity to give up to 16 additional hours to help support fellow MSU employees in need.
Even if you don’t have extra hours to spare, consider donating at least 8 hours now. Doing so will make you eligible to receive shared leave benefits in the future if you ever experience a qualifying event and need the support.
📊 Campaign Progress Update
As of today, 1177 hours have been donated toward our 2,500-hour goal! Thank you to all who have contributed so far—your donations are already making a difference for employees in need.
🎯 Help Us Reach Our Goal
Our goal is 2,500 donated hours by June 30—and we’re well on our way! You can donate in 1-hour increments, and every hour brings us closer to ensuring no employee faces hardship alone.
💡 Reminder: To be eligible to receive Shared Leave in the future, you must donate at least 8 hours.
