Samaritan Fund Program
When a family is dealing with a serious medical condition, there is already enough to think about. Appointments, treatments, medications and recovery can consume time and energy. The last thing anyone needs is to wonder how they will manage the financial side of it all.
Missouri State University wants employees and their families to know about the Samaritan Fund Program and the assistance it may provide to those facing significant medical needs.
Since its beginning, the Samaritan Fund Program has sourced more than $30 million in assistance for individuals and families who need help with medical expenses.
A program built around helping families
If the Samaritan Fund Program is successful in sourcing funds for your situation, you will receive a letter explaining the assistance available. If you accept the offer, you become a Samaritan Fund Program participant.
Participants receive a debit card preloaded with the funds designated for their program. The funds can be used for eligible medical expenses and prescriptions, and participants have access to an online portal to monitor their available balance.
For some families, that assistance can mean having one less thing to worry about while concentrating on caring for a loved one.
Hear from a participant
“Just do it. The program is life changing and such a relief of burdens that you don’t even expect to be right around the corner. The SFP is the net there to catch you. Let your guard down and focus on what’s truly important, health and healing.”
Sasha, another participant, shared how the program affected her family:
“Since you’ve come along, it’s been able to let us breathe and try to make our personal life way more accessible for her around the house. So, that’s been a godsend, to say the least.”
Knowing what’s available can make a difference
Missouri State University provides a range of benefits and services intended to support employees and their families. The Samaritan Fund Program is one more program the University wants employees to be aware of, particularly when significant medical needs create challenges beyond the doctor’s office.
The program is voluntary and confidential, and there is no fee for University employees to apply.
HIPAA Authorization Form Deadline: October 5, 2026
The deadline allows the Samaritan Fund Program team time to review applications before University Open Enrollment begins.
