Missouri Main Street Connection (MMSC) is a not-for-profit 501c3 organization committed to provide training and mentoring for communities in Missouri that want to revitalize their downtowns. Our training uses the Main Street Four-Point
Approach®, which is a comprehensive, preservation-based method designed by the National Trust for Historic
Preservation. We provide training to participating communities on-site and through workshops. We also provide training
and networking opportunities during our annual statewide downtown revitalization conference—“Get Plugged In…Downtown.”
1. We are seeking an individual to provide assistance and support in all aspects in the preparation and implementation of our annual conference, “Get Plugged In…Downtown” held this year in Washington, MO July 26-28. This person would:
work in our Branson office beginning in May until August;
work 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday daytime;
provide own transportation and lodging;
receive a bi-weekly stipend of $300;
accompany us to Washington, MO the week of July 25th for pre-conference work and the annual conference (all expenses paid by MMSC).
2. We are seeking an individual to accompany the Community Development Coordinator into various communities throughout the state during the months of May and June. These visits are to support our Aspiring and Affiliate Communities as they build their communities and develop their organization using the National Main Street Four-Point Approach® to downtown revitalization. Tasks would include research and assistance with planned development and providing tools for these communities. July would be dedicated to preparations for the State Conference (details outlined above). This person would:
work in our Branson office beginning in May until August;
work 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, daytime and evening hours;
provide own transportation and lodging (mileage to communities paid at MMSC rate);
receive a bi-weekly stipend of $300;
accompany us to Washington, MO the week of July 25th for pre-conference work and the annual conference (all expenses paid by MMSC).
Successful candidates for either internship will have:
Completed Sophomore-level status or higher toward a BS degree in one of the following:
o Hospitality o Marketing o Public Relations o Human Resources o Historic Preservation
o History o Social Science o Planning o Environmental Design o Architecture
Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Publisher, Excel)
Proficiency in office equipment
Attention to detail
Strong communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Willingness to work both independently and in a team environment
