The Department of Marketing spotlights Jonah Hagelin—a Marketing student and President of the MSU American Marketing Association here at Missouri State!
Jonah was born and raised in Raymore Missouri and is on track to graduate from Missouri State University in May 2025. Jonah will graduate with a degree in Marketing and an emphasis in Professional Sales. Jonah is currently the President of MSU AMA here on campus. The MSU American Marketing Association connects marketing professionals and students across all specialties to collaborate, network, gain practical experience and empower careers. AMA helps students practice their skills by planning and executing events. MSU AMA recently hosted their annual Car Show, Hope on Wheels. This fundraiser is an opportunity for individuals to register their vehicle for public exhibition, debuts, concept cars, or out-of-production classics. AMA makes a charitable donation to Convoy of Hope for every car registered. The organization, Convoy of Hope , provides food, supplies, and humanitarian services to impoverished or otherwise needy populations throughout the world. As AMA President, Jonah plans and runs two weekly meetings and finds ways to better prepare students by providing training and hands on experience. Jonah shared with us that he truly “cares about AMA and wants to help others as well as the organization become the best it can be.”
The Marketing Department is proud of Jonah and his accomplishments, so we decided to interview him to learn more. In this interview we asked Jonah about his role as President of AMA as well as what advice he may have for other students. Here is what Jonah Hagelin had to say:
1.How has this role shaped you?
“Being a leader of an organization has helped me gain decision making skills, time management, and communication skills. It has helped me understand that you must be able to gain trust from your organization, by respecting and working hard for every individual.”
2.Do you have any advice for younger students looking to gain professional experience/ leadership opportunities?
“Find something that you care about and get as involved as possible! Show that you care and that you want to help in any way that you can.”
3.How has your interactions been with the Marketing Department from the perspective of AMA President?
[The Marketing Department has been] “Very positive! They have shown outstanding support, and we [AMA] want to support the Marketing Department in any way that we can.”
Jonah shared that he is currently pursuing a summer internship to gain job exposure, and experience. Upon graduation in May 2025, Jonah will begin his job hunt and shared, “I hope to find a job where I can.”
Thank you so much for meeting with us, Jonah! We look forward to keeping up with your endeavors and appreciate what you had to share! We all wish you luck!
