MSU AMA Earns Top Honors at AMA International Collegiate Conference

April 14, 2025 by Noe Moreno

Recently, the American Marketing Association (AMA) International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans was hosted – where our MSU AMA organization was recognized as 29th out of 330+ chapters! This year, the MSU AMA hosted two sessions at the conference – the Student Agency Networking Blitz and one of the Chapter Leadership sessions.

The first session hosted, Student Agency Networking Blitz, was first created by our organization at last year’s conference. This year, there were 60+ students representing 27+ universities in attendance for this session. In this session, universities paired up and discussed how they run their student marketing agency, rotating and pairing up with different universities. Not only is this a great way for students to network, but also for students to learn the best practices in student marketing agencies.

The second session, Chapter Leadership, was presented by Peyton Smith and Sage Canon. In their presentation, they discussed some of MSU’s AMA best practices and events to fundraise the chapter. Only chapters recognized in the previous year as outstanding in 3+ of the 6 annual report categories were invited to give presentations.

This year, MSU AMA also placed 2nd out of 50+ teams in the Marketing Business Simulation competition! This competition was made up of a 5-person team – Joshua Combs, Philip Hackney, Rylan Piepergerdes, Sarah Schaibly, and Zack Schrock.

Joshua Combs also earned an honorable mention in the Perfect Pitch competition!

Finally, MSU AMA was recognized in three annual report categories as outstanding! The categories include – Professional Development, Membership, and Communications. They were also recognized for outstanding Community and Social Impact. However, it wasn’t one of the top three recognitions.

Overall, they saw an increase in their competition performance, coming in 6 places higher than last year! Last year, they ranked 35th out of 320+ chapters, and this year 29th out of 330+ chapters! MSU AMA is on track to continue working its way up to the top 25, a high distinction at the International Collegiate Conference.

The MSU Marketing Department is incredibly proud of our AMA students for their hard work, leadership, and commitment to excellence at the AMA International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans. From hosting impactful sessions to achieving top placements in national competitions, their accomplishments are a true reflection of the caliber of talent and dedication our students possess. The passion for marketing, teamwork, and continuous improvement our students hold is inspiring, and we couldn’t be more excited about what the future holds for MSU AMA.

Congratulations to all involved—you’ve represented Missouri State University with distinction! Keep climbing, keep connecting, and keep making your mark!
