April 26, 2010 by

GAL galsGamma Alpha Lambda is a Christ-centered sisterhood dedicated to helping each other grow as women of God. We welcome any woman of any Christian denomination that wants to grow in her relationship with the Father and with her sisters in Christ.

We seek to grow closer to each other and to God through service and fundraising projects in our community, weekly Bible studies, sister testimonies and sharing in witness, worship, mission trips, and many different social events throughout the year.

Plus/Minus Effects

April 19, 2010 by

http://sga.missouristate.edu/docs/Plus-Minus Effects Fall 2009.xls

Attention students!  For information over the effects of the plus/minus system, please see the link above which lists grade and grade point average distributions for the Fall 2008 and Fall 2009 semesters (before and after the implementation of the plus/minus grading system).  This data was collected by the Office of Institutional Research and was shared with the Student Government Association.

A few things to note:

  • The overall GPA decreased by .03 points for undergraduate students and decreased by .06 points for graduate students.  However, the data shows that this cannot be attributed solely to the implementation of the plus/minus grading system because the amount of Ds and Fs increased.
  • There were 3.3% fewer 4.0s awarded to undergraduate students and 10.7% fewer 4.0s awarded to graduate students.
  • Only 16% of all grades given were followed by a plus or a minus, reflecting on the low number of courses using the plus/minus grading system.

Pi Kappa Phi

April 16, 2010 by

Pi Kappa PhiPi Kappa Phi- Theta Lambda chapter is a fraternity of gentlemen. We strive daily to live by our core tenants of C.L.A.S.S.- character, leadership, academics, service, and sportsmanship. We must be doing something right, as is evident by the fact that we have the second highest GPA on campus and raised the most for our philanthropy in the fraternity and sorority community at MSU.

PiKapps are some of the most dynamic fraternity men you will ever meet. Our members include cellular microbiology majors to photography majors to political science majors; and we contain many of MSU’s student leaders, including the student body vice-president elect. Anyone interested in being a PiKapp should stop by the house or ask around- you’ll only hear good things.
