SGA Recommends Deadline for the Posting of Summer Courses

December 6, 2009 by

The Student Government Association passed resolution GB Fall 2009-11 which recommends that a University-wide deadline for the posting of summer courses be determined and implemented by the Office of the Registrar.

Noting that the lack of a deadline is inconvenient for students who must plan for their summer session and that many options that students have during the summer require advanced planning, the resolution further recommends that a deadline be at the same time or as close to the posting of fall classes as possible.

Senator Brandi Bowers, a co-author of the resolution, stated that an earlier posting of summer courses would put students in a more prepared position when entering the summer session. “During the summer, students have so many options ranging from internships to study away programs. Posting summer courses earlier would be a great benefit for those students who are interested in studying at Missouri State during the summer. These students will be able to plan their summers accordingly more in advance,” Bowers stated.

The Director of Academic Affairs for SGA, Kristina Moller, stated that her committee hopes to see these recommendations fulfilled. “We truly hope that University administration sees the value of these recommendations and takes them into consideration,” Moller said.
