Starting in 2021, Missouri State University employees can take advantage of payroll deductions for MO ABLE accounts in their benefits package.

Missouri State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick today announced a new partnership with MSU and the MO ABLE program in conjunction with National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

“MO ABLE can have a life-changing, positive impact on an individual with a disability,” Fitzpatrick said. “MO ABLE enables Missourians with disabilities to save money, tax-free, without losing access to critical federal benefits like Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income, finally making it possible to have a job and work toward financial independence.

“I’m grateful to Missouri State for being a leader in fostering inclusion and equity for their employees with disabilities, and families with children with disabilities.”

MSU employees can select the MO ABLE benefit option during open enrollment this year.

“MO ABLE is another tangible example of MSU’s inclusive benefit philosophy, bolstering our reputation as the employer of choice in southwest Missouri,” said Joshua Allen, MSU’s associate director of human resources.

About MO ABLE

Launched in 2017, MO ABLE allows individuals with disabilities and their families to save up to $15,000 per year, tax-free, without losing federal benefits.

It currently has 1,698 accounts and over $11.6 million in assets under management, making it one of the largest ABLE programs in the country.
