The COVID-19 disease has been wreaking havoc on people’s lives and causing everyone to stay indoors in addition to being just all around confused with the news. I’ve been in quarantine for about four to five weeks now and things have been going pretty well while I’m living with my family in St. Louis. Most of the plans I had over break were canceled so I’ve pretty much have been in quarantine since spring break started back in March. After spring break was extended for Missouri State students, I made the decision to move out of my college dorm and while many students were moving out, Missouri State faculty were preparing for online classes.
My schedule compared to how it was on campus has been pretty much a rollercoaster, to say the least, because taking my seated lecture classes and having to supplement them with videos has been really challenging. I’m using a lot of different internet sources and the amount of work I’ve been receiving has been really overwhelming but I’m learning to navigate everything because nothing good is going to come out of being stressed.
As of right now I’ve been helping my younger siblings with their schoolwork and maintaining my own personal care. Since everyone has been on lockdown, I’ve been taking more care of my body and trying out some new hobbies like baking, coloring and early morning jump roping, but those things only happen if I’m not doing my classwork.
I’m looking forward to what the rest of the quarantine can bring because it has some positive and negative aspects that everybody seems to be overlooking. I’m enjoying being at home with my family and spending the time with them that I couldn’t have before if I was still living on campus three hours away.
