This Friday, we will be saying farewell to our wonderful Lab Support Administrator, Matthew Stublefield.
Matthew began his time with Computer Services as a Lab Assistant in Fall 2003, then moved into the Help Desk as a student analyst the following summer. As he continued to work toward his degree, he moved into a full-time position as a Centralized User Support Specialist at the beginning of 2007. Finally, in Fall 2010, he was promoted to Lab Support Administrator, where he has been working hard ever since.
Now Matthew will begin a new adventure. He has accepted a position as a remote consultant for Adaptavist, where he will specialize in Atlassian Confluence and JIRA. In this position, he will be drawing on skills gained and sharpened during his time at Computer Services. The new job begins next week.
Of his time here, Matthew says, “I really appreciate all the people I met and all the experience I gained at MSU.” And the rest of us appreciate his work here just as much! Matthew has facilitated numerous changes involving training, work methods, technology, and more. These developments have improved our department’s efficiency and effectiveness enormously, usually with no increased cost. Due in large part to Matthew’s hard work, we have received the award for Best On-Campus Service for the past two years!
Here’s what some of the people who work with Matthew have to say:
“He is one of the most dedicated and hard working men I have ever known. He is driven and determined, and takes on more than his fair share of responsibilities and tasks. He has done everything that he can for everyone who works for him.” –Danielle S., Lab Assistant
“Matthew was always looking for ways to make the Open-Access Labs better, and he encouraged the lab assistants to develop their skills by working on meaningful projects that achieved that goal.” –Anthony C., Alumni, Former Lab Assistant
“I was on the team that originally hired Matthew as a student worker—and what a wise decision we made. J I have had the opportunity watch him develop from lab assistant to Help Desk Analyst to CUSS to Lab Support Admin and he exceled at every step on the ladder. Matthew will be missed.” –Alan B., Centralized User Support Specialist
“Thank you very much for being an organized and caring supervisor for all of us. We really appreciated your time and work ethics to keep our Computer Services Help Desk awesome! Also, I want to say thank you for hiring me! I have learned and still learning new things every time I go to work. We are sad that you are leaving Computer Services but happy for your new job.” –Claire G., Lab Assistant
We are excited for Matthew to start his next adventure, but he will be greatly missed!
