COB students and faculty are taking advantage of opportunities to expand global and cultural competence. During the 2012-13 academic year, 88 students traveled with faculty and took their bearwear all around the globe.
As part of the Magellan Exchange program, students may study away for a semester or academic year, and faculty can spend time at a partner school for short-term professional development and research collaboration. Dean Bryant funds a two-week exchange for two COB faculty members each year. Magellan partner schools are spread across Europe, South Korea, Mexico and Costa Rica.
More MSU students study away with short-term faculty-led programs than any other program on campus. These short programs, which last from one to three weeks, allow students and faculty to benefit from experiential learning that accompanies traditional class lectures. This year, COB students who complete a short-term COB faculty-led program are eligible to receive a $500 COB scholarship. During the 2013 spring break, Dr. Stanley Leasure led students to London and Paris and Dr. Chuck Hermans took students to Brazil. During the summer intersession, Instructor Courtney Pham will lead a group to Vietnam and Thailand, and Senior Instructor Marciann Patton will lead a group to Italy and Spain. We can’t wait to see where these educational journeys lead next year!
The International Business Programs office, in Glass 223, is always happy to work with faculty and students to help plan a great exchange or study-abroad trip.
