Each year, Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) recognizes the contributions of members, advisers, businesspersons and educators through a variety of awards and recognition programs.

Missouri State’s FBLA-PBL chapter adviser, Courtney Pham, received the Outstanding Adviser Award for 2020. The award

goes to one adviser from each state.

“Without devoted faculty advisers like Courtney, COB students would not have the opportunity to participate in student organizations and compete in state and national competitions,” said Dr. David Meinert, COB dean. “Courtney is a passionate faculty adviser. We are honored and proud she was selected for this award.”

This recognition comes after the success MSU students had at the State Leadership Conference in June.

“I feel very honored to be nominated and to receive the award for the state of Missouri,” Pham said. “It is less challenging when the MSU FBLA-PBL chapter has such bright and motivated individuals as members.”

About the award

The Outstanding Adviser Award is presented to a local adviser who makes outstanding contributions at local, state and national levels.

Advisers are nominated by the state chair and can be nominated any year they are an adviser for an active chapter.

Winners typically receive recognition at the State and National Leadership Conferences. The results would have been announced live at the National Leadership Conference held in Salt Lake City.

However, since the both events occurred virtually, winners were notified via a published special edition of Tomorrow’s Business Leaders. Certificates, medals and awards will be mailed.

About FBLA-PBL at MSU

Pham, senior marketing instructor, started as a co-adviser for MSU’s FBLA-PBL chapter in fall 2017 and took over as the only adviser in January 2018.

She is looking forward to what the future holds for the club.

“We have a great team of elected leadership for this upcoming academic year, and we will continue to put effort toward our goal of cross promotion and brand exposure of our club to more Bears,” Pham said.

MSU’s chapter was able to promote and increase membership by 30% with members from different colleges. This allowed the club to compete for a wider variety of categories representing MSU at regional, state and national competitions for the 2019-2020 academic year.

MSU’s chapter of FBLA-PBL is dedicated to inspiring and developing the next generation of leaders by preparing members for careers in business and business-related fields.
