Mini-conference: Innovations in digital marketing

Marketing industry leaders to share insights into the world of digital marketing.

Interested in a career in marketing and looking to learn from industry leaders? 

Join the College of Business Marketing Department in Glass Hall for the Innovations in Digital Marketing Mini-Conference from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 29. 

“Students now more than ever need to take advantage of the opportunity to build their competitive edge in digital marketing,” said Dr. Ismet Anitsal, head of the marketing department. 

“The mini-conference will expose students to the cutting edge tools and applications needed to stand out among the crowd in the marketing discipline.”

Learning from industry leaders 

Landon McCarter and Cody Askins, co-founders of Secure Agent Marketing, will bring their team to discuss the role of digital marketing in helping students stand out to future employers.  

It is their goal to help students understand what jobs and skillsets are currently in high demand in the digital marketing space. 

“The event is going to be extremely valuable for students thinking about going into a career in marketing, management, sales or other business-related areas,” McCarter said.   

“The marketing career path has changed drastically, as 55% of all media spending last year was digital.” 

Panel sessions

Panel sessions will take place in the Glass Hall Atrium starting at 9 a.m.

9-9:30 a.m. 

Digital marketing as a career, led by McCarter. 

9:35 a.m.-10:05 a.m. 

Power of personal branding and influencer marketing, led by Askins. 

10:10 a.m.-10:40 a.m. 

Q&A panel: Your questions about marketing in today’s world get answered. 

10:45 a.m.-11:15 a.m. 

How digital marketing is being used today, led by Tobi Roberts. 

Breakout sessions

Attendees can also join breakout sessions scheduled to begin at 11:40 a.m. in Glass 237, Glass 261, Glass 262, Glass 340 and Glass 342.  

There will be signs posted to direct students to their chosen session. 

  • Building brands with video, led by Keith Reynolds. 
  • Relating to clients through design, led by Kaleb Hunt and Jake Holden. 
  • Project management: Building and maintaining relationships, led by Brooke Pigneri and Katie Sulzner. 
  • Building a career in marketing leadership, led by Roberts. 
  • Marketing sales: Understanding how to connect and make money, led by Rodney Geremia.
