Week three of the summer session, and it’s getting HOT!
We continue to host SOAR sessions for the class of 2015. Check out this shot of SOAR dinner – that’s a lot of new students to welcome! The SOAR Leaders are still energetically introducing these new Bears to campus – but I think they are looking forward to the long weekend coming up.
On the camps and conferences front, it’s the halfway mark, and camps have a change of sports “season” at this point. Football camps and basketball camps are done for the summer. We will start seeing more volleyball and field hockey players and cheerleaders as we move into July. Soccer bridges the gap with two more camps to complete.
Music camps generally join us in July too. Choral Camp started up on Sunday, and the sweet sounds of vocal music will float across campus through tomorrow. The Independence Day holiday provides a bit of a break in new arrivals.
Most of the residence halls will be clearing out and staff will be quickly cleaning and setting up for our largest group of guests to campus, the Steubenville-St. Louis Catholic Conference. This youth conference brings nearly 6,000 people to campus – up to 3,000 for each of two weekends in the summer. The first conference will run next Friday, July 8 through July 10, and the second will run July 15 – July 17.
