Looking for Hands-On Guidance On AI? Join the AI Learning Lab

September 24, 2026 by Hailey Maples

In today’s world, technology is evolving faster than educators can learn how to handle it. AI technology and tools in particular have seen a momentous boom, leaving those in the educational field feeling overwhelmed and at times alone in their attempts to manage the changes and the accompanying challenges.

The AI Learning Lab, facilitated by the FCTL’s very own Dr. Tracy Gross, was created to help address these challenges through discussion, exploration, experimentation, and hands-on experience. The goal of the Learning Lab is to help educators learn how they can handle AI implementation or guidelines in their own courses or professional practice, and to provide helpful assistance in the navigation of responsible AI use in a time when those lines seem harder than ever to draw. Tomorrow marks the start of the AI Learning Lab’s four fall semester sessions, which will be followed by another four sessions in the spring semester of 2027. If you are looking for a place to learn, experiment with, and grow in your skills with the most recent AI technology, the FCTL encourages you to join this group and find a supportive community where you can do exactly that. To find the group’s meeting schedule, visit the FLCs homepage on the FCTL website here.

Spring 2026 FLCs Share Their Work

May 5, 2026 by Hailey Maples

A faculty member presents insights from their FLC

Last Friday, the spring 2026 faculty learning communities (FLCs) met to share key insights from their group discussions and activities at the FLC Collective Contribution Brunch. During this event, faculty members from many different communities presented projects and takeaways from their semester-long engagement in an FLC. Among the innovative projects shared were a project on critical judgement of AI application (including when and how to use AI), a project that created a discipline-specific prompt library for educators utilizing AI tools, and a project on AI-assisted syllabus creation, as well as many other fascinating work that faculty members across the colleges have completed over the course of the semester.

Thank you to all who participated in FLCs this semester and attended to event to share and learn with other faculty members! If you weren’t able to join an FLC this semester or missing the brunch, don’t worry—the innovations and contributions from the FLCs will be shared on the FCTL Academic Community in Brightspace so that the broader campus community can access and learn from them. Stay tuned to this Brightspace community to find these informative resources when they are posted, and subscribe to this blog to be notified when FLC opportunities for next semester become available!
