Our 2019 2-day Distillation Workshop concluded today and all 8 participants graduated with flying colors. The first day concentrated on content and parts of the still. We had 65 people join us for the Apple Tree Grafting Workshop. This collaboration with University of Missouri Extension provided attendees the opportunity to learn different grafting techniques and try their hand at chip budding Apple Trees. We had around 30 people join us for the pruning workshop. The group discussed pruning tools and sanitation of the tools. Proper pruning cuts and the timing of those cuts were also discussed. Then the groups pruned grapes, new and old apple and peach trees. During the summer, we did a trial run to produce oyster mushrooms in bags to prepare for our Greenhouse and High Tunnel Workshop demonstration plantings. After working the process out, we prepared more bags for mushroom production in the high tunnel (reserving some for the well house Shroom Room as backup).
