The start of the fall semester is always a busy and exciting time in the Hospitality and Restaurant Administration department. This fall is certainly no different. The summer has allowed us to plan and prepare for our students’ return so we can continue our tradition of educating future hospitality leaders.

Over the past few months, I have had the opportunity to visit with many of our HRA students, alumni and industry partners. With each visit, I was continually reminded why our department is so special. HRA students, alumni, faculty, staff and board of advisors are passionate about our success.

During a recent visit with HRA alumni in St. Louis, I was asked about my vision and goals for the department…a great question. Right then and there, I knew I had been entrusted with something very special. My promise to you is that I will work diligently to:

• Create a first-class academic environment that supports our students’ success
• Provide faculty and staff with the resources they need to excel in their positions
• Build a department that our alumni are proud to call their own

As an HRA alumna, I am honored to help our department realize our dreams. Like so many of you, the HRA department holds a special place in my heart. I look forward to visiting with  you throughout the course of the year. Because of you…we can grow.
