Mercy Oncology: Improving Early Detection of Cancer
The vast majority of cancers show no symptoms until later stages, when treatment options may be limited. The Multi-Cancer Early Detection test searches for over 50 types of cancer, many of which are hard to detect and not commonly screened for.
Multi-Cancer Early Detection Test
The Galleri® Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) test is a new cancer screening test that can detect a shared cancer signal across 50 types of cancer through a simple blood sample.
The MCED test, which should be used together with U.S. guideline-recommended annual cancer screenings, looks for signals in the bloodstream that may be linked to cancer. Test is not covered by insurance; Mercy offers payment options. *Consult your physician.
The MCED Test Has Four Steps
- See If You’re Eligible – Complete the eligibility questionnaire online through mercy.net or request and receive a referral from your Mercy provider. The MCED test cost is $949 (not covered by insurance; payment options are available).
- Schedule Your Phone Consultation – Eligible patients will schedule a phone consultation with a Mercy Care team member. During the phone consultation, we’ll go over your medical history, answer any questions, and order and schedule your lab test.
- Complete Your Lab Test – Eligible patients will provide a blood sample at a Mercy lab.
- Receive Your Test Result – About two weeks after your blood sample is taken, your MCED test results and a clinical action plan from your Mercy care team will arrive.
