Summer Travel?

May 29, 2024 by Deidre Mings

Benefit Resources to help with your travel plans.

Traveling/out-of-area:

MSU employees covered by the medical insurance can locate providers in the University’s out-of-area network by checking the wrap networks listed on the back of their insurance card. If an employee misplaces their card, they can log in to their Med-pay account to request a new one and download a temporary card.

For those with a Mercy primary provider, “Share Everywhere” on MyMercy allows temporary access to medical files for healthcare providers when traveling. Learn more about MyMercy’s benefits by reviewing the MyMercy FAQ’s.

EAP

Mercy’s EAP online site, accessible to all employees, provides various articles to help with travel planning. These include a traveler’s checklist, assessing health risks at your destination, deciding whether to bring your pet along, and more.

UNUM’s EAP program, available to full-time employees, provides a Travel Assistance program for those traveling 100 miles or more from home. This includes help with hospital admission, emergency medical evacuation, passport replacement, interpreter referrals, and more.

Credit Union

Educational Community Credit Union offers employees the choice to purchase a Visa Travel Card, which can be loaded with up to $3000 for travel expenses. You can use this card worry-free during your travels, as it protects against fraud and account depletion. Customize your funds and reload when necessary for a small fee of $2.95. If the card is lost, Visa will quickly replace it. The card requires an initial $5 purchase fee and remains valid for two years.
