Ensuring stability amid illness or injury:
Ensure financial stability with disability insurance, crucial for income protection during illness or injury. Missouri State University offers both short-term and long-term disability policies to support employees’ financial health.
Short Term Disability:
Short-term disability coverage is available to full-time employees with two options: Option 1 has a 15-day waiting period, and Option 2 has no waiting period for accidents and an 8-day waiting period for illnesses. Employees can select coverage from $100 to $2,000 per week, up to 26 weeks based on medical need, without offsetting sick and vacation leave.
Long Term Disability:
Full-time employees receive employer-paid long-term disability, providing income protection for extended absences due to serious health issues.
Short-Term disability may only be added within 31 days of hire or at Open enrollment (Nov 1- Dec 1).
EAP Financial Assist:
Access financial resources through Mercy’s Employee Assistance Website (username/password: MSU) for articles, checklists, and calculators. The EAP also offers confidential financial consultations for employees and their household members. For assistance, call 800-413-8008, option #2. Additionally, Financial Assist provides unlimited consultations on budgeting, credit management, and more, addressing issues such as bankruptcy, home buying, college funds, credit card debt, and foreclosure prevention. Appointments are available Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. EST.
