Exciting News!  Position Control is now LIVE

View the Organization Chart to See the New Look 😉 Questions can be sent to @Human Resources – Records

Join us March 26th to learn more about:

What is Banner Position Control: Position Control is the process of managing the creation, modification, and deletion of employee positions within Banner.

What is the Purpose of Position Control: Effective employee position control management maintains position history and incumbent history for the benefit of multiple administrative areas and functions across campus.

Benefits of Improvements to Position Control Management:

  • Facilitates management of positions and university organizational structure.
  • Facilitates seamless transition for replacement hiring.
  • Facilitates efficient and accountable budgeting of existing and new positions.
  • Facilitates tracking of supervisory structure for performance management and compliance training.
  • Supports numerous administrative processes across campus.

Organizational Chart Improvements and Changes You Will See:

  • The organizational chart will now contain ALL employees. Not just full-time employees, but also all part-time and student employees will be listed under supervisors in the organizational chart.
  • A count of both direct and indirect full-time and part-time subordinate positions will be displayed under each supervisor.
  • If an employee has multiple jobs with multiple supervisors, that employee will be listed under each supervisor for the employee’s job relative to that supervisor.
  • If an employee has more than one job under the same supervisor, only the primary job listed in Banner will be displayed with the employee under the supervisor.
  • No more proxies necessary in the organizational chart. Manual changes to supervisors will no longer be made/needed within the org chart – employees will automatically roll up to the next level of supervision.
  • Coming Soon – Under each full-time employee in the organizational chart, full-time job titles will be linked to the employee’s published Human Resources job description online!

Human Resources will be hosting this additional upcoming HR Live Sessions to answer all your questions about position control management and the new organizational chart features, which go LIVE on March 17th. Attend this session to learn what you and your department supervisors need to know about the NEW Position Control and the Organization Chart process.
