The Marketing Department at Missouri State University’s College of Business welcomes three new faculty and staff this semester—Dr. İsmet Anıtsal as Department Head, Dr. Jamie Grigsby as Assistant Professor and Peggy Kahre as Administrative Assistant II.
Dr. İsmet Anıtsal
Dr. Anıtsal joins the department from Tennessee Tech University, where he taught courses in both marketing and entrepreneurship for 15 years. He earned a PhD in Business Administration (Marketing) from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He had previously received his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from İstanbul Technical University and his Master of Arts in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from Boğaziçi University in Turkey. He later attended the University of West Georgia to earn a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing. He has experience working in the manufacturing, commercial banking, and retail industries in various roles progressing from sales associate to chief executive officer. When asked what he is most excited about in the Marketing Department, Dr. Anıtsal says “I am excited to collaborate with the entire faculty and staff and help grow the already impressive department. I strongly believe in the capabilities and talents of the department, as getting ready for the future necessitates a strong and cohesive team.”
Dr. Jamie Grigsby
Dr. Jamie Grigsby grew up in Indiana, and she completed her undergraduate studies in Retail Management at Purdue University. She obtained a Master of Business Administration from Kent State University (KSU). While working toward her MBA, Grigsby served as an academic advisor and found she really enjoyed working with students. As a result, she continued her education at KSU and earned a PhD in Marketing. Grigsby then accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Marketing at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, where she taught for two years. She moved to Springfield in June 2019 and joins Missouri State’s Marketing Department as an Assistant Professor. She looks forward to working in a diverse department with the ability to specialize in advertising. Grigsby says, “I am most excited about teaching advertising courses! One of the really special things we have here in our Marketing Department at Missouri State is the ability for students to choose marketing tracks—we offer more advertising classes than anywhere else I’ve taught!”
Peggy Kahre
Peggy Kahre is a native to the Ozarks and has lived near Springfield, MO, most of her life. Kahre has experience working in beauty salons and owned two of her own prior to working in education. In August 2000, she began working for a small-town public school. After 14 years and several roles in the public-school system, Kahre knew she wanted to eventually work for Missouri State University. In 2015, she accepted a position at the front desk of Sunvilla Tower, an apartment style living option on campus. She joins the Marketing Department as an Administrative Assistant. Kahre’s favorite part about working at Missouri State is interacting with students and being a part of their education as they build their futures. When asked what she is most excited about in the Marketing Department, Kahre says, “This, too, would revert back to the students. I enjoy being able to work with the students, hopefully having a positive impact on their lives and education.”
