On March 6th, 2024, Missouri State University participated in the statewide tornado drill. The purpose of the drill was for individuals to review the emergency plans and ensure they are prepared to take the appropriate action in the event of an actual tornado.

An important piece of the drill is to gather improvement feedback. To help us identify areas for improvement, please take one minute to complete this assessment.

Missouri State’s spring break is March 9-17 and is a time for students to unwind, relax and make unforgettable memories. Whether you’re planning a beach getaway, a road trip with friends or just going home, it’s crucial to prioritize safety.

Here are a few essential spring break safety tips to ensure all Bears have a fun and worry-free vacation:

• Plan ahead: Before embarking on your spring break adventure, take time to plan your trip carefully. Research your destination, familiarize yourself with local laws and regulations, and make sure you have all the necessary lodging and transportation arrangements in place.
• Travel in groups: There’s safety in numbers, so whenever possible, travel with a group. Not only is it more enjoyable to experience spring break with friends, but it also provides an added layer of security and support in unfamiliar surroundings.
• Stay aware of your surroundings: Whether you’re lounging on the beach or exploring a new city, it’s essential to stay aware of your surroundings at all times. Keep an eye on your belongings, avoid dark or secluded areas, and trust your instincts if something doesn’t feel right.
• Drink responsibly: If you choose to drink, do so in moderation and avoid driving or engaging in risky behavior. Pace yourself, stay hydrated and never leave your drink unattended.
• Protect your health: Spring break is a time to relax and have fun, but it’s essential to prioritize your health and well-being. Practice sun safety by wearing sunscreen and staying hydrated, especially if you’re spending time outdoors.
• Stay connected: Keep in touch with friends, family or trusted contacts back home during your spring break vacation. Share your itinerary with someone you trust, check in regularly and have a plan in place for emergencies or unexpected situations.
