University Ambassadors started out in 1973 as the Honey Bears, consisting of ten females serving as hostesses at various events and promoting SMSU. In 1986 the Honey Bears started accepting males and soon after it was renamed to the more well known name of University Ambassadors. University Ambassadors are a select group of students who dedicate their time to the benefit of Missouri State University. As the official student public relations team of Missouri State, Ambassadors serve the University in a variety of ways. Not only do University Ambassadors give tours to prospective students, fostering school spirit, but they also participate in social and community events. UA’s are actively involved in Homecoming and Relay for Life, and they host Holiday Happenings every December, an activity designed for children. Every semester a day is reserved for showcase, when most prospective students come to campus and the University Ambassadors are the ones who make it all happen. Meetings are every other Thursday at 4:15, and recruitment occurs every Spring semester. Visit the University Ambassador’s website.
