Seven HRA students were selected to represent the department as HRA Student Ambassadors for the upcoming academic year. Returning student ambassadors include Taylor Fritz and Kara Edwards. Those new to the team include Brandan Bates, Tyler Adams, Lauren McGrath, Wade Hagebusch and Rebecca Rice. The student ambassadors assist with recruitment activities and professional outreach. In the fall, they were a vital part of the Pummill Hall Launch Party, Recruiter’s Fair, Missouri State University’s Showcase, Majors’ Fair, recruiting visits to area high schools, and on-campus outreach activities.
Each semester the ambassadors travel to high schools with the HRA Recruiter, Shawn Erdman, to provide a student’s perspective of the program and Missouri State. This fall, they visited with students at Branson High School, Hillcrest High School (Springfield), Central High School (Springfield) and Strafford High School. On-campus, they have teamed with the department’s Recruiter to share hospitality academic and career opportunities with over 200 students enrolled in the University’s GEP 101 classes.
Student ambassadors are selected each year through a competitive selection process. Requirements include a minimum overall GPA of 3.0, completion of a minimum of six HRA credit hours, must be passionate about the HRA department and the industry, energetic and comfortable with public speaking.
