In the most significant change to U.S. refugee resettlement in 40 years, the federal government is turning to the public and the private sector to help settle people who have fled their home countries because of war, persecution and ongoing armed conflicts.

Dr. Emily Frazier, assistant professor of human geography and sustainability in the department of geography, geology and planning at Missouri State University, and Dr. Pablo Bose, professor of geography and geosciences at University of Vermont, writes a piece for The Conversation about the change. They address how community-based programs bring both possibilities and challenges.
