Effective Listening (2/24/22 10:00 am-12:00 pm) via Zoom

Good listeners have deeper, stronger, and better relationships at work, at home, and with friends. This workshop will explain why listening is important, help you figure out what type of listener you are, and teach you the necessary skills to become a more effective listener. Join us for this two hour workshop!

Facilitator:  Dr. Gloria Galanes, MSU Dean Emeritus

Communication Basics (3/3/22 10:00 am-12:00 pm) via Zoom

Every problem in the workplace may not stem from poor communication—but poor communication is the root of enough problems that it’s worth talking about! What, exactly, is communication? What is the difference between verbal and nonverbal communication, and why is nonverbal communication so important?  What can go wrong when two people attempt to communicate? What can you do to be a more effective communicator?  These topics will be the focus of this two-hour session about communication.

Facilitator:  Dr. Gloria Galanes, MSU Dean Emeritus

Critical Thinking Tools (3/31/22 8:30 am-12:00 pm) via Zoom

Critical thinking means taking responsibility for your attitudes, moods, and thoughts, in order to problem solve and make decisions objectively. It means directing focused attention so that we rely on reason rather than emotion or impulses.  This thought-provoking 3 ½ hour workshop will freshen and expand your choices of critical thinking tools so you can offer new approaches to ever-changing challenges.

Facilitator: Dale McCoy, Organization & Human Systems Development

Writing for Business (4/6/22 1:00 pm-2:30 pm)  seated class

Whether it is writing a report or delivering a presentation, your ability to convey ideas and messages clearly, succinctly and with conviction establishes a connection with others and leaves a positive impression. This interactive 90-minute session will help you communicate better in conversations, presentations, letters, emails and reports.
