MSU LEAD ON: Managing and Mediating Conflict for Others
Date: Friday, October 27, 2023
Time: 8:00-11:30 a.m.
Location: Pummill Hall 203
Facilitated by: Dr. Erin Wehrman
This session focuses on enhancing mediation and conflict-resolution skills for leaders.
Leaders often find themselves managing conflicts between others, whether it’s among team members, other leaders, or outside individuals. This mediating role can be challenging and awkward to navigate, but a lack of resolution can lead to a decrease in productivity and an increase in turnover as well as overall dissatisfaction. Leading others toward conflict resolution is an important skill for leaders when promoting successful and peaceful team dynamics.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the basics of conflict and barriers to resolution.
- Recognize the role of a third party (formal or informal) in conflict resolution.
- Understand the goal for each stage of mediation.
- Implement techniques for helping individuals work through conflict.
Reunite with fellow MSU LEAD Supervisors in exploring strategies for helping others resolve conflicts. Refreshments and networking from 8:00-8:30 a.m.
The MSU LEAD ON workshops support continued professional development in the supervisor training, MSU LEAD OTHERS: The Supervisor Series.
