Saving for Education
The MOST 529 plan is a tax-advantaged savings plan for education expenses, including tuition, room and board, and textbooks. Contributions grow tax-deferred, and qualified withdrawals are federally tax-free. Missouri residents may also qualify for state tax deductions.
Who Can Use a 529 Plan?
Anyone! You can open a 529 plan for yourself, a spouse, child, grandchild, or friend. If saving for yourself, you are both the account owner and beneficiary.
Are Funds Guaranteed?
No. Investments are tied to the stock market, meaning there is a risk of loss. However, you can select from conservative, moderate, or aggressive investment options. Learn more here.
When Can I Withdraw Funds?
Funds can be withdrawn once deposits clear (7-10 business days).
